Dr Anand Shah is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. He manages large cohorts of adults with fungal lung infection and allergy (e.g. Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis and Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis) and fungal complications in chronic lung disease (e.g. Cystic Fibrosis (CF), Bronchiectasis).
His academic interest led to a MRC clinical PhD research fellowship at Imperial College London analysing the human macrophage response to Aspergillus fumigatus. He continues his academic work as a co-investigator on a CF trust funded programme grant (TrIFIC – Targeting Immunotherapy for Fungal Infections in Cystic Fibrosis) and leading a MRC-funded multicentre study in collaboration with Professor Matthew Fisher and Dr Pantelis Georgiou (FREAL – Fungal Resistance Evolution and Acquisition in chronic Lung disease).
