Dr Jorge Amich

Dr Jorge Amich has been working on Aspergillus fumigatus infection biology and metabolism for over 15 years. His work has helped to elucidate the role of zinc homeostasis and sulphur metabolism for fungal virulence. In 2016 Dr Amich was awarded a MRC CDA Fellowship to establish his own group within the Manchester Fungal Infection Group (MFIG), at the University of Manchester. Dr Amich’s research primarily focuses on various aspects of A. fumigatus sulphur metabolism, with the aim to identify fungal virulence traits and to translate new targets for antifungal development.
