Dr Peter Cook

Peter Cook, based at the University of Manchester, focuses on understanding how fungi trigger host innate immune cells to mediate asthma. Throughout his career he has investigated the role of host innate immune cells in orchestrating inflammatory diseases against parasites and allergens. Recently he has identified that the lung airway environment itself is a critical regulator of innate cell function and the focus of the group is to understand how this influences the development of anti-fungal allergic disease. In 2020, he is relocating to the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter.
