Samuel Gonçalves graduated as a Biologist from the school of sciences at University of Minho, Portugal, in 2015. During his academic training, he was actively involved in the field of fungal immunology an immunogenetics. He is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Agostinho Carvalho at the Microbiology and Infection Research Domain in ICVS, School of Medicine. His current research interests regard how human metabolism, namely the metabolism of macrophages, can modulate immune responses in patients at higher risk of invasive fungal disease.
